The monograph gives a relatively typological description of the verbal fights presented in the ancient German culture (the Ancient Maletsky, Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian), their successive relationship with oral tradition is established, two main types of solid intertwine, differing in the composition of the participants, the place of conduct and functions, are investigated, structural, The semantic and stylistic features of both types, their evolution is planned from a brief exchange of the replicas of two opponents to a strictly regulated scene, which preserves the unity of time, actions and place, however, which allows the participation of several heroes, and in the late-medieval literature spreading to permeating the whole poem of the topic.
