The book presents data on methods of maintaining airway patency in the perioperative period in patients undergoing maxillofacial surgery, based on domestic and foreign clinical recommendations, as well as the authors' many years of experience. The work provides an author's analysis of the concept of 'difficult airways', methods for assessing difficult airways, and introduces the concept of 'hidden threat' for the first time - a condition in which the risk of difficult intubation is associated with invisible anatomical deformities or functional changes during routine examination. Devices for maintaining airway patency are shown - from classical to the most modern, including those based on video visualization. A classification of airways is proposed and the specifics of their application are revealed. The technique of extubation after reconstructive maxillofacial surgery with preventive laryngoscopy is detailed, potential errors and complications are indicated.
