The first release of the new historical explanatory dictionary of the Russian language (A-Razaz) was prepared by the team of employees of the Filology Faculty of St. Petersburg State University and the Institute of Linguistic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the project proposed in the early 60s of the XX century. prof. B.A. Larin. The selection of sources and preparation of the card file was led by prof. S.S.Volkov. The dictionary represents the vocabulary and phraseology of the everyday Russian language of the XVI-XVII centuries. According to the materials of the group of monuments of the literary and written language of this era on a popular-conversational basis. About 240 sources written in Moscow and other regions of Moscow Rus were investigated. The body of the dictionary includes data from regional historical dictionaries of the Russian language XVI-XVII centuries.
