French writers Edmond and Jules Goncura did a lot first in due time. Everything that we are accustomed to love in French classical literature seemed to begin in the novels of the Gonkur brothers or, at least, is described in their diaries (they also introduced fashion for diaries), where Dumas, Balzac, Zola, Herzen, Turgenev, Turgenev, Turgenev. Diary began to be released in France in 1887, the last, 22nd volume, was released in 1896. The first Russian translation of the chosen pages of the diary published in 1898 by the Northern Herald magazine is reprinted here
