The published text of the diary A.V. Kvitka, dedicated to the Russo-Japanese War, was prepared on the basis of daily records made “in hot pursuit”. The author day after day describes military events, which he had a chance to be. The diary is written in an excellent language, read in one breath, in places seasoned with light self -irony and subtle humor. On the pages of the diary are bright and colorful descriptions of various sides of the military everyday life of the Russian army, the nature of Manchuria and the life of the local population, the assessment of the events and actors of the Russian-Japanese war, as well as the brief or detailed characteristics of the author"s colleagues
