The diary of the famous numismatist, archaeologist and historian, many years of employee of the imperial Russian, then the State Historical Museum, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences A.V. Oreshnikova (1855-1933) covers the turning years of Russian history. His author happened to become an eyewitness to the events of the First World War, the revolution of 1917 and the Civil War, the policy of military communism and NEP, collectivization, the persecution of the Soviet state to the church and the old -regime intelligentsia, etc. Oreshnikov was a direct and competent witness to the activities of new authorities regarding historical historical ones in relation to historical , church and artistic values, scientific institutions and museums.
