After two novels and memoirs, the poet, translator and music critic Alexei Parin wrote a detective story. The hero of the story, the opera manager, arrives from abroad to Snigirsk, a city on the Volga with many theaters to help the investigation of the brutal murder of a famous theater critic. Sometimes it seems that a known reader can find out individual characters. But no, the author denies the connection with the life reality, claims that the described events and actors are the fruits of pure fiction. Perhaps the main thing in the story is not a detective intrigue, but an unstable private life of the protagonist with all its cupids and twists. The book is written in a living language and reads in one breath
