The Minister of Internal Affairs Pleve instructed Lykov an inquiry of the circumstances of the death of a scientist Mikhail Filippov, who in the summer of 1903 reported his invention - a new, unprecedented weapon, so destructive that wars with him would become meaningless. The day after the publication of this news, the scientist’s newspaper was found dead. Doctors stated death from natural causes - the deceased had a sick heart. And soon the counterintelligence intercepted the letter of the German resident with the message that Filippov was killed, the authorities were not guessed, and the inventor’s papers were about to be transported to Berlin. How successful will Lykov be this time? Can the murderers of the inventor of "rays of death"? Will he be able to stay alive yourself?
