The action of the novel of the talented short story Henry Haggard transfers the reader to England of the 16th century - the time of the cruel confrontation of the church and secular power, led by King Henry VIII.
Siseli Fottrel - Sir"s daughter John Fotrela, the heiress of the lands of Blosholm and a huge state. Her life is easy, and the future seems cloudless. But the Bloskholm Abbot Clement Maldon, obsessed with a thirst for money and power, vilely kills the father of Siseli, separates her from her lover and declares his rights to all the fortune of fotrals.
Young Siseli will have to enter the struggle for the honor of the family. Many inhabitants of the Blosolm will stand up to her, ready to risk freedom and even life, but not to become a bloody tool in the hands of the abbot. Heroes will survive fires and sieges, encounter betrayal, bribery and intrigues, will be on the hair from death more than once ... But they will invariably support faith in justice, hope for retribution - and, of course, love ...
