The book presents the most famous novel of this famous series-“The Last of the Mogican” (1826), telling about the mature time of Nathaniel’s life and his participation in the events of the Franco-Indian war. Having met the young Kora and Alice on the forest path, the daughters of the British Colonel Manro, who, under the protection of Major Duncan Hayuard, head to the father in the fortelm-Genri Fort, the falcon eye with their friend Chingachguk and his son Unkas are called to accompany the travelers to the destination. In this volume, the author’s preface and notes for the publication of 1831 were restored, absent in the former domestic publications of the novel. Also, for the first time in Russia, illustrations for the “last of the Mogican”, created by the famous Czech artist Zdenek Burian (1905–1981) are reproduced
