Vladimir Afanasevich Voruchev (1863 - 1956) - Russian and Soviet geologist, geographer, traveler, writer and popularizer of science. At the beginning of the 19th century, he happened to work in a geological and geographical expedition in the north of Yakutia. From local residents, Obruchev heard a story about the mysterious land in the distant Arctic Ocean, where the disappeared tribe of onkilons found shelter. So the scientific and fiction novel by V. Voruchev “The Earth of Sannikov”, which was first published in 1926.
