In the old English estate, the last representatives of the aristocratic family live - the eccentric colonel de Lus and his three daughters. In the summer of 1950, the viscous swamp of rural life is violated by incredible events: the murder of a stranger and the arrest of a colonel. While the older daughters, as it should be well-well-mannered English ladies, sob in handkerchiefs, the younger, eleven-year-old Flavia, is delighted: finally something happened in her life!
