The Russian pre -revolutionary detective (“Criminal Roman” - in the language of that time) is completely unknown to the modern reader. This book, designed to some extent to fill this gap, includes the novels and novels of Alexander Alekseevich Shklyarevsky (1837–1883), which, rather than anyone else, can be called the “father of the Russian detective” and was unusually popular in 1870– 1880s
