In 1941, the literary story of Major Pronin began with a small book. Six small stories made a revolution in Soviet mass literature. For the first time, the people gained a real modern hero. With the stories of Major Pronin, the Red Army went to the front. With the sequels of the Proninians yesterday"s front -line soldiers restored and rebuilt the country. Plucle crimes, cunning conspiracies, and the grace with which the major revealed them provided the Pronin of popular love and a place in the pantheon of the great detectives of the 20th century.
The following works included in the first volume of the real two -volume: “The Stories of Major Pronin”, “Stories about the Major Pronin”, “Bouquet of Scarlet Roses” and, perhaps, the best story by Ovalov - “Blue Angel”. The elegant spy story became the main literary event of the last peaceful months of 1941. Clouds of the upcoming war are gathering over the country, but another atmosphere reigns in the story: for the first time the style and intonation of Roman Noir invades Soviet entertainment literature.
In the second volume of this two -volume, the largest work with the participation of Major Pronin was included - the story “Copper button”, as well as “Secret Weapons” - a political detective of the Cold War. It was on such books that Julian Semenov and Vainer brothers studied. After this novel, Pronin does not appear in the works of Leo Ovalov.
