The new detective of the Queen of the Irish detective, the Irish Donna Tartt.
In an expensive private school for girls, a picture of a smiling guy from a neighboring men"s school once appears on the board of ads. On top of the boy’s face, the inscription from the cut letters "I know who killed him". Chris was killed almost a year ago, his body was found on the idyllic lawn for girls. How did he get there? Who did you meet there? Who is the killer? All these questions remained unanswered. So far, one day a girl does not appear in the police station and this picture with the inscription gives Detective Steven Moran. Stephen has been waiting for his chance for several years to get to the Dublin police murder department. And this chance herself sailed into his hands. Together with Antoinette Conway, the notebook of the murder department, he goes to the Saint Kilda school to figure it out. They do not understand that they will find themselves in a real aspen nest, where young girls, so innocent and cute in appearance, are actually more dangerous than the worst criminals. It is smarter, more dodgy, more false - for sure.
The new detective Tana French, behind which the characteristic of the Irish Donna Tartt is a great psychological novel, built on an excellent detective frame. This is a psychological drama, and a romance of growing up, and, of course, a classic detective with a closed circle of suspects and developing in a strange world of a private school.
Absolutely bewitching reading.
Gillian Flynn
Awesome, frightening, incredibly, and the style is just beautiful.
Stephen King
A book, stuffed with sexy insidious schoolgirls, not a single word of which cannot be believed. This book is cunning, like schoolgirls in it - a smoke curtain from stylistic delights, it becomes thicker or a moment diverges that again to hide the truth in a dense haze. And the reader, along with detectives, will have to understand this pile of lies. The perfect detective.
The New York Times
In the novel, the echoes of the "Secret History" of Donna Tartt are obvious. In fact, Tana French started a literary game with Tartt, even calling his book in a similar way. But this is exactly the game, sophisticated, strange and fascinating. If all the detectives were like that.
o Magazine
smart and tough, frank and frightening, tragic and ironic, this novel is read in one breath.
The New York Times Book Review
Tana French is magnificent, she is a poet of atmosphere and maestro detective architecture. "Secret Place" is another of her triumph.
The Washington Post
A jack with icy accuracy, like a thrower of knives that throw their guns into an assistant, sticks detective spears into "innocent babies". The amazing world of her novel then flourishes with violent colors, then plunges into black and white melancholy.
Time
A detective from which the radiance comes. But the strongest place of the jacket is the characters, complex and amazing characters written out with amazing depth, revealing gradually, as the investigation is moving ..
Tampa Bay Times
Tana French has no, in fact, competitors. The combination of literary sophistication and an intricate plot makes its detectives ideal. The novel is investigating not only the detective secret itself, but also the secret of friendship, fidelity, betrayal, both among schoolgirls and inside the detective brigade. Stunningly thought out, verified romance.

Tana French (1973) - Irish detective queen. But she does not have Irish roots. An American with Italian and Russian roots (her mother Elena Khvostoff) has traveled a lot around the world since childhood: father is a specialist in developing countries. After graduating from school, she entered Dublin Trinity College for the Acting Department. From 17 years she lives in Ireland, which she considers her home. After the college, Tana played in the cinema, theater, and was engaged in voice. The writings with which she raved in childhood was forgotten. But when she was thirty, the old passion suddenly flared up again. She wrote her first novel ("in forest more often") between castings. The debut turned out to be excellent - the book was met enthusiastically. The novel received several awards, became a bestseller. By 2015, the debut detective Tanya French dispersed a total circulation of more than a million copies. Flavorwire magazine has included it in the list of the 50 best debut novels since 1950. Her next novel "Dead Return? .." (2008) instantly headed the lists of bestsellers in different countries. "Secret History" is the fifth novel of the writer. In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, Tana French said that Donna Tartt was the source of inspiration for the new book
