Lady Emily Hardkasl is an eccentric widow with a mysterious past. And Florence Armstrong is its maid, as well as the master of eastern martial arts. In 1908, they moved from London to the province in the hope of a quiet rural life. It wasn’t there: a young man was found hanged next to their house in the forest. The police took a false mark, and the ladies begin their own investigation. It suddenly turns out that they are just excellent detectives. Plunging headlong into local gossip and squabbles, Emily and Florence discover a huge web of intrigues, extending far beyond the village. Under suspicion, everything, there is no confidence in anything but one - a quiet rural life flies to hell
