In 1938, the head of the investigative department of the USSR prosecutor’s office and the talented writer Lev Romanovich Sheinin published a collection of stories "Notes of the investigator". After the publication of this book, the author focused on writing novels, novels, plays, scenes and journalism, but continued to compose stories that tell about various episodes from his career of the investigator. Most of the works included in this collection were written in the period from 1941 to 1963
