The chief inspector Lena Lorenzen accompanies a large-scale search for a fourteen-year-old girl on the North Frisian Island of Fer. The missing Maria Loener comes from an ultra -religious family, and everyone describes it as unusually mature for her age. On the second day of the search, it is found with cut wrists on a secluded area of the beach. Lena and her young colleague Johann Grasmann quickly suspect that this is not about suicide. Maria"s parents are extremely reluctant to cooperate, but they are not the only ones who have something to hide. Only gradually commissars penetrate deeper into the life of a young girl and her secrets. Lena is convinced that this is the key to the disclosure of the case. In addition to a professional call, there are difficult personal decisions before Lena: does she decide to live with the erk, a childhood friend, and what will be means moving to amrumum for her work? And can she forgive her father, whom she has not seen for fourteen years?
