The main character of the novel is a former serial killer who left his lesson twenty -five years ago. The bodies of his victims are buried in the bamboo forest, his adoptive daughter Yunhi is the child of the last woman who he killed. But he is forced to return to the bloody craft. In the area where the hero lives, killings began to take place one after another, and a suspicious young man traveling to the hunting jeep began to take care of the Yunhi. Is this really this or everything happens only in the imagination of the serial killer losing the mind?
The author masterfully makes the reader doubt the reality of the events described. After it becomes known that the main character suffers from Alzheimer"s disease, the reader gets closer to this seventy -year old man who is leading a desperate struggle for disappearing memories. The book, the brief chapters of which are similar to the skill memory of the hero, leads the reader to an unexpected ending that turns over all the previous narrative. The cycle of elusive memories and illusions delays the hero and destroys the unreliable structure he erected, which has still seemed to be his real past.
Kim Yonha is one of the most influential South Korean writers of our time, whose works are translated, published and filmed in many countries, including the USA, France, Germany, Japan, Italy and the Netherlands, and the author himself became a living legend of Korean literature
