The Ajax-Press Publishing House represents the third book of "micro-detectives" of the Swiss writer Melchior Verdenberg "Imaginary Worlds" (The first book, a “mortal case”, was published in October 2016, the second - "Night Shadows" - in May 2018) Under the pseudonym of Melchior Verdenberg, the famous Swiss lawyer Hans Baumgartner is hidden.
, by virtue of his profession, a lawyer constantly deal with conflict, dramatic and even tragic life material. This material is largely non -verbalized, but it has to be translated into the conditional and abstract language of regulatory acts, protocols, expert conclusions, judicial speeches and sentences that are explained by the right. Between the life material and the language of law, there is an abyss, a bridge through which the personality of the lawyer himself serves. At the same time, the law, on the one hand, grants a lawyer the right to non -disclosure of professional secrets, protecting him from the pressure of the conflicting parties, and on the other hand, the law requires a non -disclosure of professional secrets from him, protecting the competitiveness of the conflicting parties.
The lawyer is in the role of the brand of King Midas, who is burdened by a secret and who wants to express it at least a dug hole. But a smart lawyer, knowing the legend, himself makes the pipe from the grown cane and reins his song so that no one can blame him for disclosing secrets. He became a lawyer two decades ago, having previously had experience in the position of district prosecutor Zurich. He was a judge of the Military Court of Appeal, was engaged in cases related to drugs and sex business, economic crimes. So the background, which allows you to write about the mysterious and criminal affairs with knowledge, is quite solid at Melchior Verdenberg. However, as a lawyer, he assures: any coincidence of his stories with real events and people is an accident. Verdenberg stories are short, written by a deliberately cold language, behind which a subtle irony is guessed, this is not only a trifle that helps the reader have fun, plunging into the world of other people"s passions, crimes and punishments. They make them think. It is especially worth saying about the translator of this and other books of Verdenberg, Boris Khlebnikov (the works of Hoffmann, Gesse, Bully, Grasse, Shlinka, etc) were published in his translations: it was thanks to him that Melchior Verdenberg spoke Russian
