The collection presents the early novels of J.Kh. Chase “now he does not need anything” (1939) and “get merit” (1941), written in the best traditions of the “cool detective” at the peak of literary glory, which was marked by his literary debut. The novel “Freedom is a dangerous thing” (1958) is also included in the publication, it is partly knocked out of the genre that is familiar to the author, but is not inferior to the other works of the master in the dynamism of the plot and fascination. In the center of the novel is the son of a famous film producer, immersed in very strange fantasies and exhausted in the shadow of his father’s glory, outwardly the prosperous life of which is once a rut of a rut on once
