Caroline Graham (b. 1931) is perhaps the only classic of the English detective of the New Age, almost unknown to Russian readers. “The death of the lyceum” is the second novel from the cycle of detective stories about the Barnabi inspector. In the theater society of the provincial town of Kauston, the production of the famous play by Peter Schiffer “Amadeus” is being prepared. The nerves of all participants in the performance at the limit: the confrontation of characters, intrigues and suspicions fill their hearts on stage and in life. The premiere of the play, which the senior inspector comes to, turns into a real tragedy, and Barnabi has to find out which of the heroes decided on such a daring crime
