And twenty years later, Granzhe decided to resurrect the legendary commissar in the novel “Last Hunt” and the new thriller “The Day of Poach”.
Under the wreckage of the frescoes, which fell from the arch of the old chapel in Alsace, the body of a man was found. The chapel has long been belonging to a religious community, whose representatives call themselves the messengers of the Lord. In fact, this is a closed sect, living according to its own laws, which goes into the depths of times. They shy of modern gadgets and other achievements of civilization, dress like in the eighteenth century, pray, grow grapes and make wine that is famous throughout Europe. The deceased was one of the leaders of the community. However, the police have doubts that his death is the result of an inconsistent case. The investigation includes Pierre Nieeman and his young assistant Ivan Bogdanovich. And while Nyeman, with the help of local gendarmes, is looking for evidence, Ivan is being embedded in the ranks of forced workers in order to look closely from the inside during the collection of grapes at a strange community. In the meantime, the situation is heating up, new victims appear. But the search for the killer will not budge until the investigators answer the questions: where does a piece of coal come from in the mouth of the deceased and what do the hidden frescoes found under the murals of the vault of the gloomy chapel mean?
