Nikolai Petrovich Wagner (1829-1907) - a Russian writer and scientist, Slavophile and mystic - lived a rather long life -rich life. The writer’s childhood passed in the Urals, subsequently devoting himself to science, he became a professor of Kazan and then the University of St. Petersburg, a corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, the editor of the Popular-Popular Journal of Sveta, finally, the president of the Russian Society of Experimental Psychology.
The novel "The Dark Way" caused a stormy polemic among the progressive critics of his time. He began to be released in the journal Rubus in 1881 and was printed until 1884, but only the first three parts were published. The last, fourth, entered a separate edition of the book in 1890. Since then, the novel has practically not reprinted.
This is probably the most voluminous and controversial work of a wonderful Russian writer. The protagonist Vladimir Olinsky, on behalf of which is conducted by a story, is trying to find the culprits of a serious crime, but gradually the ideas of a worldwide conspiracy take possession of it
