Boris Zhitkov, an experienced man of encyclopedic knowledge and various skills, wrote an exciting pirate-adventure book about the Cossack Gritsko, who was captured by the Turks.
Cossack wanderings are rich in incredible events and picturesque details. Sunny markets, slave labor on Venetian galleys, pirate attacks, ritual uprising and, finally, a happy returning home - all this against the backdrop of fascinating, poetic and professionally reliable descriptions of various types of sailing (and not only) vessels, marine customs, work of the team. No wonder the writer graduated from the shipbuilding department of the Polytechnic Institute, was an assault on distant swimming and sailed on sailboats in the Mediterranean Sea and off the Anatolian coast.
The book was illustrated by the artist Vasily Vladimirov, who created thin linear drawings of high accuracy.
It is recommended for children 6-12 years old, fascinated by the pirate and marine theme
