1941. Amsterdam is occupied by the Nazis. Professor Joseph Held understands that now his hometown is in the power of a destructive, destroying everything in its path, which knows neither pity nor compassion. And, it would seem, Heldo has no choice but to submit to the new regime, crossing over himself. To do the way the majority acts - silently put up with their fate. But faced with Nazi arbitrariness, Held can no longer close his eyes. One of his students, Michael Blum, aroused the interest of Gestapo. The naive young man, whose only fault is that he was born to him by a Jew. Held decides to cover Michael in his attic. The young man tells the professor about his dreams, about his beautiful and fearless girl Elke. Michael is sure that even the war will not separate them. Joseph sees determination in the eyes of his young friend, his desperate thirst for living, Held understands that he is obliged to help him. But once Joseph is faced with an impossible choice. On the gloomy days of the war, when the danger and betrayal lurks on every corner, no one cannot be trusted. Michael"s life will depend on Joseph. Professor Held will have to find a hero inside himself and do everything possible so that Michael will survive. Even if he will have to death his own life
