The book analyzes one of the most common ailments of our time - depression. It explores not only the visible causes of depression - low social status, limited contact with others, uninteresting work - but also deeper reasons. Primarily, these are the features of a person's worldview that shape their assessment of their existence. Worldview is shaped by culture, language, life experience. Unfortunately, all of these are not devoid of depressive potential. Which cultural layers can increase depression? How can language lead to melancholy? Does life experience necessarily lower mood? In what ways does a person's susceptibility to depressogenic factors form? This book attempts to seek answers to these and many other questions.
