Viktor Dragunsky wrote "Denis's Stories" in the late 1950s. Back then, schools had inkwells, there were very few cars on the streets, and one phone was shared among several families. Much has changed since then, but we still laugh when we hear "Dad is good at math," "siski, hyhki, and fyfki," or "Chiki-bryk! Repeat the trick." "Third place in butterfly style," "Girl on a ball," "The Glory of Ivan Kozlovsky," "The Secret Becomes Clear," "He is alive and shining," "From top to bottom diagonally"... This edition is unusual. It includes not only all the stories about Denis and his friends, but also stories about life sixty years ago. They were written by Denis Dragunsky, a prose writer and the son of the writer. He told stories about playing hide and seek in communal apartments and riding bicycles in the yard, about soda with syrup and general's buttons, about what in "Denis's Stories" is fiction and what actually happened.
