The demonstration materials "Russian Painting. Still Life" are intended for children to be viewed together with a teacher with the aim of cognitive, artistic, and aesthetic development of the child, introducing them to art. The demonstration materials contain eight reproductions of paintings by Russian artists of the 19th - early 20th centuries. The accompanying text on the back of the reproductions includes brief biographies of the artists, with special attention given to their childhood years. In childhood, each of them was struck by a remarkable sight - one saw the sun rise over the Volga, another saw rare flowers blooming in a greenhouse, a third saw shoots breaking through the snow. Becoming artists, they deliberately chose to paint still lifes. They made us, the viewers, admire the form, color of objects, and their variety. The information compiled by the authors is addressed to the teacher and will help create a vivid, memorable image of an extraordinary, creative person - an artist - for the children. Discussion questions will help the teacher organize an engaging conversation about the painting. After all, a still life is a real puzzle. Children will try to compose a museum description of the painting, practice classifying still lifes, become spectators at an unusual show where voluminous objects emerge from flat ones. Taking an imaginary binoculars, children will see that autumn fruits can be arranged to form a portrait of a person, that a festive table resembles a spring forest, that objects can come to life, grow, and then, conversely, become flat and almost dissolve in the air. The means of representation, techniques used by artists to create various illusions will be the subject of discussion. Creative tasks will help the child reflect on the impressions received in their own artistic activities. To acquire the "colorful power" possessed by the artists, children will practice mixing paints on a palette, obtaining warm and cool shades, working with watercolor paint and wax crayons, and using the monotype technique. The demonstration materials are intended for classes with children of preschool age.
