The monograph investigates the problems of the number, accommodation, reproduction and age-sex composition of the population of the Republic of Dagestan based on the materials of the census of the population of the USSR and the Russian Federation. A comparative analysis of the results of census is given. On the basis of sociological research conducted by the author in the regions and cities of the Republic, family issues are considered: fertility, mortality, sexual education of children. A significant place is given to the issues of migration of the population, its reasons and consequences. Generalized sociological materials on the socio-economic and ethno-demographic development of eleven nationalities of Dagestan are given. Scientific recommendations are proposed to the state authorities and the regional management in the field of the formation of optimal demographic policy.
