In April 1992, American traveler Chris McCandless, who took on the pseudonym Alexander Supertramp, went to the uninhabited part of Alaska, where he tried to survive alone with limited food and equipment. He lived in an abandoned bus in Denali National Park but died after 4 months on August 18, 1992, due to starvation. Chris's story sparked a lot of controversy and gained wide popularity thanks to John Krakauer's book "Into the Wild" and the film adaptation by Sean Penn. Only one person knew the secrets that led Chris to take such reckless actions. Many did not understand why he left his family or why he did not take a compass and map when venturing into such wild places. No one suspected what preceded such impulsive behavior. Twenty-two years later, in 2014, his sister Carine McCandless found the strength to tell the whole truth about her brother, the environment in which they grew up, and the unhealthy family relationships that left many emotional scars.
