Horst Schmidt"s autobiography is a confession of a man who has denied military service in Nazi Germany. Being a deeply believer Christian, he did not want to break the Old Testament Commandment "Do not kill" and went underground. His, as a person outside the law, he pursued the Gestapo, and only a miracle managed to shoot them down from the trace for a long time. He traveled throughout the country, delivering the forbidden literature of the International Society of Bible Researchers. In Danzig, he met his future wife, Ermina. They were arrested for belonging to Jehovah"s Witnesses. She was sent to the concentration camp, where he wore a distinctive sign - a lilac triangle, and a People"s Court sentenced to the death penalty.
In addition to autobiography, the book included the work of Herman Hesse about the persecution of Jehovah"s Witnesses in Nazi Germany.
