Suffering from autism, the girl Nadya cannot find her place in life until she discovers the world of music. Being an extraordinarily gifted pianist, she does not strive for fame and tries to escape from the painful reality through music. Like some people with Asperger's syndrome, Nadya seeks to "order" the world in her mind and mentally compiles various lists: for example, a list of deceased pianists from her hometown or a list of students from a non-existent class. Gradually, these lists seep into her life, mysteriously intertwining and influencing the fate of Nadya and those around her. The novel "Dead Pianists" is about the loneliness of the "person within oneself." About its fictional dead world that comes to life, blending with reality. About how we are all a little bit "people within ourselves."
