Everything that the person registers and the machines created by it can be considered data. Fixing the new and translating the archives in a digital form, we produce more and more data every day. But much more often it happens that these data are scattered over the worldwide network on numerous pages of online stores, notes on social networks, server logs, etc. Before starting to work with such data, they must be assembled and saved in a suitable form. This book is dedicated to solving these issues.
The main material of the book is divided into two parts. In the first part, a brief introduction to R is a description of the development environment, language and basic expansion packages. The second part is devoted directly to the data collection: working with open data, extracting data from web pages and from social networks. The necessary technical issues are also considered: HTTP protocol, data import functions of various formats and regular expressions. The story is completed by creating cards based on the collected data.
The publication is intended for data analysis professionals, as well as programmers interested in collecting data on the Internet
