For the first time in the entire war, SMERSH had a chance to obtain the archive of the Abwehr intelligence school! An abandoned Polish castle was chosen for the operation. A sentry was stationed nearby. And then, in the deep of night, a shot rang out from the castle. The SMERSH agents who arrived at the scene saw the body of a completely naked man and a shocked sentry. The soldier claimed that a pack of wolves attacked him at night, but when he shot the leader, the predators instantly disappeared, leaving a bleeding man lying on the ground in their place... The author of the book, when he was still a child, often listened to stories from his father, Alexander Bushkov Sr., a participant in the Great Patriotic War, and his imagination carried the boy into strange, unexplored worlds filled with wonders, wizards, and all sorts of devilry. Much of what he heard, which fascinated and amazed him to the extreme, later formed the basis of his books in the series "The Unknown."
