The experience of the Second World War showed that women are able to perform intelligence tasks no worse than men. Elizaveta Zarubin, Kitty Harris, Leontin Cohen, Nadezhda Polevitskaya, Elizabeth Mukase, Zoya Voskresenskaya and others, which will be discussed in this book, worked for Soviet intelligence on the eve of and during the war, sometimes performed tasks with a risk to life. In different ways, the heroines of this book came to intelligence. But their choice as operational workers, of course, was not accidental. The selection of women for illegal work was especially careful. An officer of illegal intelligence is not very good to speak foreign languages and the basics of intelligence art. He must be able to get used to the role, be a kind of artist, in order to pass himself as an aristocrat today, tomorrow - for a priest.
