Vorontsov -Veliminovs - an old noble family, especially glorified in the XIV century as a reliable support of the Moscow Grand Dynasty. Later, the family has repeatedly been persecuted, but has not died and still exists, and, mainly in Moscow. Here, for many years, the authors of the published memoirs-three representatives of the same branch of the genus: Alexey Pavlovich (1843-1912), Pavel Alekseevich (1865-1948) and Alexei Pavlovich (1897-1976) Vorontsov-Velyaminovs lived.
Military engineer Alexei Pavlovich Vorontsov-Velyaminov served as an assistant (1882-1889), and then the head (1897-1910) of the Moscow Military District, supported the activities of many charitable organizations, in 1909-1910. He actively worked in the Special Committee on the Instruction in Moscow of the 1812 museum, supported the creation of the Borodino panorama. His son, Pavel Alekseevich Vorontsov-Velyaminov, performed the post of head of the 1st Moscow Engineering distance (1899-1917), led the strengthening of the foundation of the Moscow arena, restructuring the dilapidated ceilings of the Kremlin arsenal, and the device for dozens of buildings of the military department. He participated in the work of the Special Committee in Moscow of the Museum of 1812 and the Commission of the headquarters of the Moscow Military District to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812, designed and led the construction of the building for the Borodino panorama. In 1917-1926, continuing to serve in the Moscow District Military Engineering Directorate, was engaged in the construction, preservation and restoration of the old barracks of the Red Guard and the Red Army, the construction of hospitals, led the construction of a multi-span wooden bridge over the river.
