The monograph examines changes in self -awareness, worldview and culture of the “upper” of the Russian state from the reforms of Tsar Fedor Alekseevich (1676–1682) to the beginning of the 18th century, reflected in the socially oriented work of the court poet. The mirror of changes are the phenomena of Russian poetic culture that have arisen during this period: literary epitaph and illustrated books for teaching children.
These phenomena are selected for research due to the wealth of content, cultural and scientific novelty. In the genre of literary epitaph, less than 4% of texts considered in the book were known. From the brilliant system of training aids for figurative teaching in the “maternal school”, the attention was attracted to the “maternal school” attracted attention attracted only by archers. The monograph is given an academic publication of monuments introduced into the scientific circulation.
The book shows how cultural changes were accepted in the upper layers of secular and church society, reveals the general (but not well -known) spiritual trends in the top of the Russian power. With the involvement of the entire material of the era, the author draws the characters of the “creators” and culturally active representatives of the capital"s society: from kings, patriarchs and nobility - to monasticism, merchants and orders, even Posad people.
