The book is devoted to the uniform, equipment and personal weapons of military personnel of the Russian Navy from the reign of emperors Alexander III and Nicholas II, as well as the period of the Provisional Government, i.e. From March 1881 to October 1917, in the indicated era, the fleet actively developed, which entailed various organizational and staffing innovations. Entire categories of naval officials appeared, such as fleet conductors and ship"s midshipmen. The corps of the marine department and the military education system were repeatedly reformed. All this had a significant impact on the uniforms and signs of the differences of naval sailors.
The book is a logical continuation of the book "Uniform of the Russian Navy. 1855-1881 ". The second volume includes information about the form of the corps of the marine department, naval educational institutions, fleet conductors and ship’s midshipmen, some other categories of naval officials, chapters dedicated to personal weapons and equipment of military sailors, as well as describing the rules for wearing various forms of uniforms, Orders and insignia.
When writing a book, regulatory documents of the marine department, reference literature of that time, as well as archival materials were used. As illustrations, graphic documents from archival funds, historical photo documents of the late XIX - early XX century, as well as photographs of genuine objects from domestic and foreign museum and private collections were used. A significant part of the information given is published for the first time
