The book is devoted to the uniform, equipment and armament of the Russian Navy in the reign of Alexander II (1855-1881) This era is one of the most difficult periods in the history of the domestic former costume, it was very saturated with various innovations and changes, and therefore, up to our time remained the least studied by specialists. This is the first printed work in Russia after 1917, where the evolution of the Russian naval uniform of the times of Alexander II is considered in detail.
Structurally, the narrative is divided into a common part, which sets out changes in the form of uniforms belonging to all or a significant part of military sailors, and chapters on private changes in their various categories (admirals, the ranks of the imperial retinue, naval crews, and the corps of the naval department and so on) Special chapters describe weapons, equipment and horseboards. As an application, the rules for wearing various types of uniform forms are given.
The book is equipped with a rich reference and illustrative material from domestic and foreign museums and private collections, a significant part of which is published for the first time.
