The book was written in 2020, mainly according to the World Value Review (1981–2020) In the period from 1981 to 2007, the level of religiosity increased in most countries, partly due to higher birth rate in religious families. But from 2007 to 2020, almost all countries became less religious. Is it unexpected? All major religions, according to tradition, encourage high birth rate, reflecting the recent reality by historical standards, characterized by high infant mortality and low life expectancy. In such conditions, the norms of high birth rate and strict regulation of sexual behavior are necessary for the reproduction of society. Nevertheless, religion fades away. What will be next? The Scandinavian countries have long been on the forefront of social changes. Protestantism left a deep cultural imprint in them, but in the 20th century they had a social state with a system of universal free health and education, social protection, kindergartens, old -age pensions and ethics of social solidarity. In these countries, the level of religiosity is low and quickly decreasing. Does this lead to the collapse of society and nihilism? Looks like no. Although these countries have become less religious, people in them are distinguished by a high level of trust in each other, tolerance, honesty, social solidarity and commitment to democratic norms. The decline of religion in the world is one of the most serious phenomena in the history of mankind. Ronald Inglhart"s book considers the causes of this phenomenon and its possible consequences
