Who are "their"? "Other"? "Aliens"? Why do we, as a rule, consider fellow citizens to "ours", and foreigners, mainly, to "others" and even "strangers"? How objective are our assessments of representatives of another culture? Why did foreigners often perceive the inhabitants of Russia as non -cylidized barbarians"? Are such stereotypes preserved today? The reader learns about this and much more from the proposed monograph, which presents the concepts of leading domestic and foreign scientists studying the cross-cultural communications of the Western and Russia countries. A long chronological period (from the Middle Ages to the present) will allow to trace the dynamics of mutual perception and interaction of cultures in time and space and realize this as a complex historical phenomenon.
