Book of a military historian Yu.N. Lubchenkova contains a complete and detailed presentation of the history of the Rurikovich dynasty. Rurikovich is a Russian princely (including the Grand Dukes of Kyiv, Vladimir, Moscow) and Tsarist (until 1598) dynasty. All Rurikovichs were (or considered) the descendants of the great Kyiv Prince Igor, the son of Rurik, the leader of the Varangian squad, called by the Sloveni and became the ruler of Novgorod. The princes from the Rurikovich clan managed to unite the East Slavic lands of Eastern Europe and stood at the head of the Old Russian state. Separate branches of the genus were called by the names of the ancestors - for example, Olgovichi, Monomakhovichi (Monomashichi), Mstislavichi. The Moscow Grand Dukes and Kings were descendants of the Vladimir-Suzdal Monomakhovichi. The last legitimate king from the Rurikovich clan was Fedor Ivanovich, who received the throne by right of inheritance. During the Great Troubles (beginning of the XVII century), the elected tsar - Prince Vasily Shuisky, Rurikovich by blood, was on the Russian throne for four years
