Levchik proposes to understand the popular myths about the Time of Troubles in his book “The Real History of Troubles”. The author considers the image of Ivan the Terrible as a merciless autocrat as one of the most harmful errors, in the book it is shown as a hostage of confrontation between different boyars clans and the church. The Romanovs, according to Levchik, did not have the right to the Russian throne and continued the tendency to strengthen church authorities, which led to the weakening of the army and the state. The author considered the Russian turmoil as one of the theaters of the main confrontation in the European policy of that time - between the Roman papacy and the Ottoman Empire
