The book, whose name is borrowed from Aristotle, presents an original analysis of the figure of the animal in a philosophical tradition. Lifehood and phenomena, equated or in contact with it (such, for example, poverty or madness), serve in our culture a kind of double or negative model, comparing himself with which a person determines his nature and essence. Before us is the experience of not so much philosophical zoology as philosophical anthropology, which differs from classical anthropological and default anthropocentric teachings in that it does not turn to the center in which a person who is confident in his own exclusivity, but to the periphery and the boundaries of human. Reading "animal" stories from the works of philosophy (Aristotle, Descartes, Hegel, Simondon, Heidegger, etc) and literature (F. Kafka and A. Platonov), the author explores what is happening on these borders - transformed forms and methods of formation arising in connection with certain strategies of knowledge and power
