This edition is the first book of a series dedicated to the history of the imperial lyceum of the first half of the 19th century. The author’s focus is everyday life, which determines that it will subsequently receive the name "Lyceum Spirit" and will remain in the memory of graduates. The book tells about the pupils of the most famous first Pushkin course and introduces the reader to the history of the creation of a unique educational institution and individual parties to the everyday life of lyceum students: literary activity, lyceum library, the most important political events, walks, hobbies and leisure of the young poet and his comrades.
