This study is devoted to the study of sources on the history of Moscow necropolis, their systematization and the identification of informative value. The necropolis, which is a kind of historical and cultural phenomenon, is one of the vaults of historical memory. The book highlights the main stages of the formation of the Moscow necropolis of the XII - early XX century, given a systematic overview of the body of sources on the history of the necropolis and its biographical composition. The everyday life of the Russian medieval necropolis is analyzed on the example of Moscow. Based on the existing sources, the prospects of restoring lost cemeteries and individual monuments are presented. A separate chapter talks about the role of Moscow necropolis in the domestic culture of the time under consideration.
