The book “Small Cities of the Pskov land in the Time of Troubles” reconstructs the events of the Time of Troubles in the northwest of the country, which took place at the beginning of the 17th century in cities such as Gdov, Porkhov, Izborsk and Pechora. They ended up at the epicenter of events related to the struggle of Pskov against Novgorod and Swedish interventionists. The confusing chronology of the Events of Troubles in this region is restored in detail. It is told about the attempts by the government of Delagardi - Odoevsky to establish a peaceful life in Porkhov.
Some aspects of city everyday life are reconstructed, the names and social status of citizens are established. The events of 1613 are investigated, associated with uprisings in the GDOV and PORKHOV against the Swedes. The book considers the fate of small cities until 1617, when, according to the conditions of the Polbovsky world, Porkhov, Staraya Russa and Old Ladoga along with Novgorod, as well as gds (in 1621) were returned to the Swedes to the Russian state.
The author relies on a fairly voluminous and diverse source base: material-archaeological, artistic and imitating, cartographic sources and, on the main type of sources-written materials.
The main written sources in this work are assembly records and documents of special office work, as well as military novels and church legends as part of the annals and the works of foreigners.
The sources used by the author, with their parallel analysis, make it possible to approach this topic in a new way, and will better represent the nature of the relationship between Russia and Sweden during this period, simultaneously deepen our ideas about the nature of social contradictions during the period of troubled time
