Johann Eberhard Fischer, 1697 - 1771) - Russian historian and archaeologist of German origin, academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. In the Great Northern Expedition, 1733-1743, under the command of Bering (second expedition), the "Academic Group", headed by Gerhard Miller, participated. In 1739, the adjunct Johann Fisher was sent to Siberia to change the sick Miller. Having been more than nine years in the expedition, Fisher returned to St. Petersburg, where in 1768 he published in German the "History of Siberia" in two volumes. In 1774, three years after the death of Johann Ebergard Fisher, a Russian translation of this work was published without a preface and pointer, made by the translator of the Academy of Sciences Vasily Lebedev.
