The first truly global conflict of the New Age-the Seven-year war (1756–1763)-occupies a modest place in domestic historiography. The participation of Russia was marked by brilliant triumphs over the most formidable Prussian army in Europe, but the dramatic turns of politicians led to the fact that these victories were left without visible results, and the war was unclaimed in national historical memory.
